Teacher"s sense of efficiency: a teacher"s belief that he or she can reach even difficult students to help them learn: one of the few personal characteristics of a teacher"s that predict student achievement. The relationship with a teacher can predict aspects of school success. Children with behavioural problems in early years are less likely to have problems in school later on if their first teachers are sensitive to their needs and provide frequent, consistent feedback. Students who are taught by a teacher who has a major in the subject they are teaching do much better than those who are being taught by a teacher outside of their expertise.
