Document Summary
Development in all of the physical and psychological changes that occur within a human being from conception until birth. Developmental psychology studies the changes that happen in an individual over their lifetime, specifically their changes that relate to behaviour and mental status. Developmental psychologists study this but it is more commonly known as developmental science now because people from so many different backgrounds study it to allow for all of the different aspects of development to be studied in depth. Theories are a set of ideas or propositions that help organize an observable phenomenon. Theories are backed up by scientific research, unlike hypotheses. Good theories lead to predictions about behaviour that can be tested easily. Social policies are programs put in to place by a variety of different individuals to help alleviate a social problem. Research can help identify social problems and help to discover ways to alleviate these problems.
