Story- jennifer began to smoke in high school as it was easy way to socialize. Able to quit easily as at her job after high school no one smoked. Later jennifer going through divorce and began to smoke again. She didn"t want her children to model her behaviour so she never smoked indoors to endanger them or let her children see her smoke. Once she was able to obtain custody of children she stopped habit. 20% of worlds population smokes- 800 million men and 200 million women. People typically start during teenage years- percent not started by 20 is indicator of future smoking rates. Highest rate of smoking is aged 20-35 years old. Males smoke more than females- gap narrowed during 60s and 70s and stayed constant. Smoking declines with increasing income, education and job prestige. These countries realize consequences and implement tobacco legislation. Western euroope- decrease, middle east and africa- increase.
