The self concept is a collection of beliefs about one"s own basic nature, unique qualities, and typical behaviour. Self concept entails your beliefs about your personality. Are concerned with your personality traits, abilities, physical features, values, goals, and social and cultural roles. Each self-schema is characterized by relatively distinct thoughts and feelings. Possible selves are one"s conception about the kind of person one might become in the future. Possible selves are developed from past experiences, current behaviour, and future expectations. Help to envision desired future goals, and to achieve them. Possible selves can be positive or negative. Self discrepancies consists of a mismatch between the self-perception that make up the actual self, the ideal self, and ought self. Actual self = qualities you believe you actually possess. Ideal self = characteristics you would like to have. Ought self = traits you believe you should possess.
