They use deception to charm and lure their victims in, sometimes they resort to violence, threats, and intimidation to get what they want: lack a conscience and prey on others to achieve their goals. Psychopathy is a personality disorder defined by a collection of interpersonal, affective, and behavioral characteristics. They are dominant, selfish, manipulative and engage in impulsive and antisocial acts. They feel no remorse, or shame for their behaviors. Most popular method of assessing psychopathy in adults is the hare psychopathy. Checklist-revised (pcl-r). it is a 20-item scale that used a semi-structured interview and a review of file information to assess interpersonal [grandiosity, manipulativeness], affective [lack of remorse, shallow emotions], and behavioral. [impulsivity] features of psychopathy: 3-point scale 0-2 where 0 indicates that the symptom definitely does not apply and 2 indicates that it does. Another way of assessing psychopathic traits is via self-reported questionnaires. Disadvantages: may lie to get a lesser sentencing.
