Physical symptoms or concerns about an illness that cannot be explained by a medical or physiological disorder. One or more somatic symptoms that suggest a medical condition but without recognized organic basis. Excessive time and energy devoted to these symptoms or health concerns. Symptoms are distressing or result in signi cant disruption of everyday life. Although anyone somatic symptom may not be continuous or present, the state of being symptomatic is persistent. Pseudoneurological (not follow known neurological patterns) complaints such as motor de cits, sensory de cits and seizures, convulsions, paralysis or blindness. 10-15% found to have an actual diagnosable medical condition. Glove anesthesia - loss of sensitivity in hand and wrist. Physical anatomy cannot explain the symptom pattern of glove anesthesia. Preoccupation with/fears of having or acquiring a serious illness. Somatic symptoms are not present or, only mild. Hard to treat because they are convinced that they have a disease. Illness preoccupation present for at least 6 months.
