Personality and anorexia perfectionism, obsessionality, neuroticism (worrier) Comorbidity and anorexia 80% people will experience major depression & 75% will experience anxiety disorders. Invisible eating disorder, pts are normally normal weight or obese, main feature of binge is sense of lack of control over eating: characterized by recurrent episodes of binge eating and inappropriate compensatory behaviors to prevent weight gain. Inappropriate compensatory behaviors - are any actions that a person uses to counteract a binge to or prevent weight gain. Epidemiology & course of bulimia nervosa (1-4% women & 0. 1-0. 5% men develop bulimia) Starts later than anorexia in late adolescence: associated with physical complaints such as fatigue, lethargy, gi problems. Personality & bulimia perfectionism & low self-esteem as well as impulsive and high novelty seeking behavior, show more erratic and impulsive traits.
