Reading 1: what does it mean to be a professional. New jersey nurse volume 42, number 2 pg. Author is wondering if nurses agree on what it means to be a professional nurse. Talked to two others to see their insight. Nurse 1) a seasoned nurse who is a diploma school graduate, who has worked in the clinical setting, for her professional association and is very active in collective bargaining. Nurse 2) the second is a bsn graduate who has gone on for a master"s degree and has extensive clinical experience. Oh yes, she is also in her twenties! Author was taught this is what professional nurse was: I was expected to be a patient advocate. I am responsible for my clinical knowledge throughout my career. I need to be an example for and supporter of my fellow nurses. I represent the profession to the public wherever i go.
