Example: american culture is already a multiculture. Made up of people who have little or nothing in common. Criticized by those who see it is as attempt to separate people rather than bring them together. Some people see it as a decline in the common identity of american-ness. Others see a positive change of expanding the possibilities. It can call our attention to the fact that the normativity of our culture marginalizes people and groups and that there are effects to this. Important to remember that any attempt to configure a narrow group is always dependent on a process of exclusion.
