Violence: an actual physical assault or threat of an assault. Aggression: behaviour by an individual or individuals within or outside an organization that is intended to physically or psychologically harm a worker or workers and that occurs in a work-related context. Harassment: engaging in annoying or embarrassing conduct against a worker in a workplace-conduct that is known or ought reasonably to be known to be unwelcome. Robbery is the primary risk factor for occupational homicide. Occupational risk factors: the first overall risk factor is working with the general public, there is a host of more specific risk factors that can be subsumed under the acronym sat-t, scheduling. Individuals who work alone or at night and on weekends are increased risk for violence. Individuals who work around valuable products or objects are at increased risk of violence largely because the risk of criminal activity is greater.
