Sometimes those who provide services = agents (independent contractors: doctors or lawyers, tax savings for independent contractors, flexibility and independence, relationship between independent contractor and employer is simpler. Independent contractor: distinction between employee and independent contractor is not always apparent. Ic = short term, temporary and employees are long term and permanent but this isn"t the case in law: distinction in terms of law: Degree of control exercised over the individual by the employer more direction provided by employer, more likely it is employment. Sharing profits and losses and ownership of their own tools = independent contractor. How integral the nature of work is to the company (is it integral or adjunct: not one single test but a holistic approach is taken, nature of relationship question of fact.
