Supreme court of canada states that tort law provides a means whereby compensation, usually in the form of damages, may be paid for. E. g. if a driver leaves their car in a parking garage without purchasing a required ticket, the parking garage operators may rely on tort due to trespassing: deceit or fraud. A false representation intentionally or recklessly made by one person to another that causes damages. E. g. if a customer purchases a vehicle based on the belief the car has a new engine, but in fact does not.
