Social information processing theory- members use information from others to interpret events and develop expectations about appropriate attitudes and behaviors, the effect of social information can be strong. Individuals are dependent on the effects of their actions as determined by rewards or punishments provided by others, this effect dependence involves. 2 complimentary processes: (1) group has vested interest in how individual members think and act, (2) members frequently desire the approval of the group. Tendency for members to conform to social norms of the group. This process is known as organizational socialization. Process by which people learn attitudes and behaviors necessary to function in a group.
