Constructive alternativism the philosophical position that all human constructions are imperfect and subject to revision or replacement and implies that a person always has alternative ways of construing life events. Repertory grid a procedure for understanding ways in which persons construe life experiences. Involves rating an individualized set of elements on a series of personal constructs. Elements could be objects, events, people, activities, or other constituents of lived experience. Personal constructs bipolar scales that a person uses to describe how some elements are alike, but different than other elements. Triadic method occurs when elements are presented three at a time, and the respondent is asked to specify an important way in which two of them are alike but different than the third.
