People are living longer and in some places healthier lives. Societal aging may affect economic growth and many other issues, including sustainability of families, the ability of states and communities to provide resources for older citizens, and international relations. Loss of health and life worldwide (in few decades) will be greater from non- communicable or chronic diseases (cancer, dementia, arthritis, etc) than from infectious disease, child disease, and accidents. 2006 almost 500 million people worldwide 65+, projected that by 2030 1 billion (1/8: mostly in developing countries (jump by 140% by 2030) First time in history, people age 65+ will outnumber children under 5. Number of oldest old is rising, people 85+ are now fastest growing portion of many national populations. Some populations will shrink, while world pop is aging at unprecedented rate, total pop in some countries is simultaneously declining.
