Perspectives on health promotion from different areas of practice. Today, areas of practice in health promotion (hp) go far beyond simply health education and individual behavior modifications. Many of those working in hp come from diverse backgrounds, are employed in a variety of settings and don"t necessarily identify as health promoters: health promotion is done by many other professions. Health promotion as a lab service for primary care. Primary care physicians know that prevention is necessary, but they typically do not have enough time in visits to promote it to patients. Without tracking tools, few doctors remember to address prevention. Prevention is very important, but primary care physicians have no time to promote it. Primary health care and primary care do not often have enough time to do the prevention aspect. Interventions have to extend the doctor"s influence and not burden clinic routines o. Attempt to work around these obstacles by creating a new type of lab service.
