I found it very interesting to read just how crucial our simple role of eating and food choices can be on a global scale. Our world today seems almost passive about our food choices, it seems to be more a habit than a conscious decision. The foods that we are passively" reaching for at the grocery store for that quick fix are deteriorating a whole agricultural system. I enjoyed this first chapter especially because it ties in very nicely with the research paper i am writing on slow food. We have arrived at a point where food has become a highly contested arena of competing paradigms this quotation stood out to me. Yes, food industries and agricultural industries have made incredible achievements to date, but this is only for people in a privileged position, for high income countries. I find the concept of entitlements" very interesting.
