Social networks and interactions that inspire trust and reciprocity among citizens. Why the relationship between social capital, health, and the built environment is important to understand: social capital has been linked with good health, proper functioning of democracy, prevention of crime, and enhanced economic development health variations exist across geographical areas. Wales study: perceptions of social capital and the built environment. Study rationale: all these combinations are possible and thus it is important to conduct studies in which both the perceptions of the social and built environment are simultaneously assessed and analysed at different levels of data aggregation. Key findings: results suggested that key components of social capital, trust and social cohesion was much more likely to differ due to individual factors than geographic factors. When the models are adjusted for individual characteristics, only social cohesion" and trust" remain significantly associated with both high ghq scores and ghq caseness.
