Document Summary

Geography 2011b: some people argue that they should separate, the aboriginals never really talk about this. Although they do feel ostracized from all ontarians- both in the north and south: political parties have been rudimentarily formed to help no separate- northern ontario. Heritage party- never had an elected official: benefits, regional government- brings government closer to the people that it affects, more direct control over the tools of economic development. Taxes, accesses to resource rents, control of energy development. Overall: greater say in the tools affecting their own economic welfare. Perhaps separation would give aboriginals more of a voice. Realize that many northwestern cities do their business and services with manitoba. However, overall not much different than being a part of ontario: separate as a different province. Positive for aboriginals- get more of a voice- nothing else really changes. Positive- get to control to control their own resources.
