Document Summary
This era started when the first nuclear thing was launched. We have become a force of nature. System: a set of interrelated components or objects linked together to form a unified whole. Open systems: interact with other elements outside the system. Feedbacks: the relationships between a system"s parts or between a system and some external elements. Ecology: the study of organisms in their homes. Ecosystem: comprises a set of interacting and interdependent organisms and their physical, chemical, and biological environment. The sun is the key input in this ecosystem. Needs and wants are satisfied by humans using their energy to harness other forms of energy. The more successfully we can utilize other energy, the more easily we can fulfill our needs and wants. All forms of technology represent ways of converting energy into useful forms. Something becomes a resource only if humans perceive it as technologically, politically, economically, or socially useful.
