Subsistence economy = produce your own goods and consume them, minimum outside trading. Extensive subsistence agriculture = uses up large amounts of land, little labour per unit of land. Nomadic herding = wanderers that bring livestock around with them. Shifting (swidden) cultivation = hack down natural vegetation and burn them to put nutrients into the soil, then plant crops over the newly-created field. Intensive subsistence agriculture = uses up little land, large amounts of labour per unit of land (ex. Green revolution = using more fertilisers, irrigation, etc. to get bigger harvests out of the same land, to keep up with increasing food demands. Market (commercial economy) = producers freely market their goods/services to a market, price determined by supply and demands, dominant form of economy around the world. Planned economy = communist, government controls supply and demand, goods/services distributed by government agencies.
