Cpu reads instructions from memory & executes them. Temp data stored in registers (located in cpu) Pc register (program counter) points at next instruction to be executed. Ccr (condition code register) = collection of flag bits for processor. Contains # of bits needed to define it, # operands and format of each i. e. ldr register-destination, memory-source. Stored program machine = computer with program in digital form in main memory. Program counter points to next instruction to be executed, incremented after each execution. Fetch = next instruction read from memory & decoded. Execute = instruction is interpreted/executed by cpu logic. Register file = set of general purpose registers (cid:894)r(cid:1004), r(cid:1005) (cid:895) that store working data. Program counter = address of next instruction to be executed (points to location in memory with next instruction) Instruction register (ir) = instruction most recently read from main memory (currently being executed)
