PSYC 4270 Chapter Notes - Chapter 10-11: Task Analysis, Adventitiousness, Errorless Learning
Document Summary
Chapter 10: changing the stimulus control of a behaviour with. Important so that we don"t always have to keep reinforcing behaviour. Fading saves time, saves from getting stuck on errors, saves anguish. Errorless discrimination training (errorless learning): use of fading to establish a stimulus discrimination so that no errors occur. Script fading procedures have been used to teach children with autism to initiate interaction with others. Fading can also be used to teach a child how to trace, copy, and/or draw shapes, numerals, and letters of the alphabet. A dimension of a stimulus is any characteristic that can be measured on a continuum. Factors influencing the effectiveness of fading: the final target stimulus: must be chosen carefully; goal is that it will be maintained in a natural environment, the starting stimulus (a prompt):must reliably evoke the desired behaviour. Physical prompts (physical guidance) are those that involve touch. Gestural prompts involve motions that the teacher makes.
