Emerging around the industrial revolution, sociology sough to explain how societies maintain stability in the face of dramatic social change. 1960s and onward, sociologist continued to assert that social stability is founded on moral order a common world view that binds people. However, a commitment to a common moral order is much more difficult within a culture of individualism.
