Document Summary

Hundreds of years ago, people started to question the validity of religion which prompted scholars and brilliant thinkers to try and prove the existence of a higher power by creating a plethora of different theories and ideas. One of these theories was called the argument from. Design that traces back to the 18th century with philosopher and clergyman william paley. Paley attempted to prove that an omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent god created the world by comparing the universe to a simple watch. A watch, he said, is so perfectly designed that when we see one, we automatically know that it is made by an intelligent person who put a lot of care and time into making it work perfectly. He then says that this must be the explanation for the universe as well, as only the most intelligent person, with intellectual capabilities way more developed than humans", could have created a world so inherently perfect and organized.
