Document Summary

Concentration (reading the page) different from awareness (understanding the page). Meditation is the balance of awareness, concentration, and energy. Sitting with a pillow under your butt, giving your knees a stable base is common. Try not to use stuff as support, since meditation is self-support. Not just the thought of breath, but the constant sensation of the breath. Choose a spot to observe the breath, either the nose or gut. Noting the in" out" of breath can help in the process. It is not a comment on the process, it is recognition of what"s occurring, without judgement. Make note of your thoughts as they occur. Intention can be more clearly perceived when the mind is silent. A state of mind is an attitude, a predominant emotion or mood, that acts like a filter or coloured lens through which mental objects such as thoughts and sensations are experienced and related to.
