How we become moral the sources of moral motivation summary. Psychology has focused more on the bad than the good. Morality is about getting reinforced by some benefit to another. Moral motivation coming from 3 sources suggests redundant design (more than 1 cause it is important). Moral refers to acts intended to produce kind and/or fair outcomes. A moral act is therefore one in which the intentions were good. The arousal of empathy. (moved by people"s feelings, especially suffering) Moral affiliations. (moved by the goodness of moral models) The commitment to principles or personal standards of right and wrong. (moved by ideas of the good such as noble principles and ideas) The capacity to experience what other people are feeling. At an early age, empathy becomes a source of moral motivation by inducing altruistic acts to make someone else feel better.
