Wernicke"s area is in the left temporal lobe close to the front of the occipital lobe. Damage to wernicke"s area cause a deficit in language comprehension and meaningful language production. The patient can speak, but speech is meaningless. Damage in the inferior temporal cortex causes object agnosia, the inability to correctly recognize objects. But only occurred in visual recognition of the objects, not by any other sensation (touch, describe) H. m. case that has damage to hippocampus causes loss of the ability to form new memories.
