Document Summary
Jeffrey dahmer killed and ate 17 men: police returned a runaway who spoke no english back to his apartment and new it smelled bad but didn"t investigate. When an individual experiences the same event many times, the brain has memories of those experiences and leads to ignorance called habituation. Sensitization is repeatedly being exposed to some stimuli and not paying attention to it anymore. Repeated experiences can lead to perceptual learning which allowed dahmer to identify suitable victims. Latent learning: learning that takes place without any initial evidence that learning has occurred. Learning and recognition hidden from eh world and trying to actively memorize and understand as you read. Acoustic startle reflex: defensive response to a loud, unexpected noise. Goes away if you hear the noise constantly. Orienting response: organism"s natural reaction to a novel stimulus or to an important event. Fixation time: duration of staring (usually used in children)
