Document Summary
Acquired savant syndrome: individuals that gain prodigious memory capacities as the result of brain injury. The human brain: cerebral cortex: tissue covering the top and sides of the brain, largest structure, consists of two hemispheres. In each hemisphere there is a frontal (front), parietal lobe (top), temporal lobe (side) and occipital lobe (back) Intelligence in humans might be due to size differences in certain subregions in frontal and parietal lobes: vertebrates are the only ones with both cns and pns. Invertebrates have recognizable brains but different organization octopuses have social learning though. Neurons are the building blocks of the nervous system some are sensory receptors (respond to stimuli) and some are motor fibers (commands from spinal cord to muscles) Magnet aligns magnetic properties of protons within the patient"s brain, radio waves broadcasted to disturb the atoms to generate tiny electrical currents, when radio waves are stopped the protons return to stable aligned state.
