They also start displaying some universal signs pointing, pushing or reaching up: 10 mos. = babies become more attuned to the goals of others: personal understanding begins to extend to social understanding, object permanence (8 mos. ) Realization that objects or people continue to exist when they are no longer in sight. Experiment: at about 8 mos. , they will search for the toy hidden under a cloth but not if they have to wait for a few seconds.
