Document Summary
Whenever trying to find the best scientific research it"s important that it is objective (studying the object itself without the influence of the individuals that are studying them) It is based on measurements that are objective, valid, and reliable. It can be generalized (the results can relate to many people, not just the people that were part of the study in your lab) The best science uses objective measurements the measure of an entity or behaviour that, within an allowed margin of error, is consistent across instruments and observers. Also important are variables the object, concept, or event being measured. Does depression mean scoring a certain score on a test?). These definitions are called operational definitions statements that describe the procedures and specific measures that are used to record observations. Once we have stated our variables and defined them, we need to see how exactly we are going to measure them.
