Psychotherapy: approaches used in treatment of mental disorders and psychological problems. Breuer and freud treated a woman anna o with psychotherapy; they allowed her to talk through her emotions and she was successful in getting rid of her emotions. Freud applied this insight to other patients and developed a systematic treatment procedure he called psychoanalysis. There are many treatment methods that include discussion, advice, emotional support, persuasion, etc. Three major categories: insight therapy: talk therapy; clients engage in complex verbal interactions with their therapists. There is a great diversity seen among the patients and they bring to therapy a huge range of problems: anxiety, depression, unsatisfactory interpersonal relations, etc. Client in treatment does not necessarily have an identifiable psychological disorder; some people can seek professional help for everyday problems, but there are also people that are unwilling to get treatment due (like admitting to personal weakness) Psychotherapy is refers to professional treatment with someone who has had training.
