Document Summary

Anxiety - a negative mood state that is accompanied by bodily symptoms like increased heart rate, muscle tension, a sense of unease and apprehension about the future. Motivates us to plain for the future, and is a good thing. A nagging feeling motivating us to study for a text, practice harder, be at our best. Some people experience it so intensely that it doesn"t help but overwhelms them, making them distracted and interfere in their lives in a significant way. Anxiety and closely related disorders emerge from triple vulnerabilities - a combination of biological, psychological and specific factors that increase our risk for developing a disorder. Biological vulnerabilities refer to specific genetic and neurobiological factors that might predispose someone to develop anxiety disorders. No single gene directly causes anxiety or panic, but our genes may make us more susceptible to anxiety. Psychological vulnerabilities refer to the influences that our early experiences have on how we view the world.
