Cyber emotional intelligence: examines the assumptions that we make about people based on their online personalities. The purpose of this section is to show that human behavior is complex and it is challenging to understand it. We will example different aspects of behavior from basic brain and perceptions functions to memory to social behaviors. Primary goal: understand why and how we behave the way we do. Two unifying qualities of psychology: psychology involves the study of behavior that can include perception, thought and emotion, psychologist employ the scientific method in their work. Psychology: the scientific study of behavior, thought, and experience, and how they can be affected by physical, mental, social, and environmental factors. I. e. why we think/act the way we do. Unifying themes: use of empiricism, the scientific method. Observe, hypothesize, make theories etc: importance of socio-historical context. What we study/ how we study: recognition of multiple influences on behaviour.
