Cultural evolution shapes lifestyle: aggregate behaviour of a person; the way the person chooses to life their life; habits. Lifestyle has changed significantly civilization enhances standards of living introduces new challenges and dangers *difference btw current & ideal lifestyle. Unhealthy lifestyles typically have their effects later in life not selected against. Implications for animal research and issues of indoctrination prevent disease instead of experiment animals. Gambling: major tax for gov (recessive tax) e. g. lottery ticket. Our ancestors: fruits, vegetables, nuts and lean meat (hard to find high fat) *low fat, high fibre. Last 150 years: higher fat, lower fibre (more meat, sweets, deep fried food, additives) two major causes of death are directly linked to this change in diet. Health psychologist: both effects on behaviour & decision on health, survival & well-being. Life-shortening health problem: lung, throat, mouth cancer, heart disease, pulmonary disease.
