Don"t like unfairness both ways (benefits and does not benefit us) "first order inequity aversion" receiving more than someone else and objecting to it. Unfairness conceptions found to be most common in animals who cooperate outside the bonds of mating and kinship. Need to recognize that they got less than a partner. Disadvantageous inequity develops earlier in humans than advantageous inequity. May refuse reward if someone else gets a better reward. Counterintuitive --> better off absolute-gain wise if they just accept the lesser reward. Outside of games, this might actually work out (get a better outcome) Natural selection is about relative advantage --> what good is absolute, doesn"t really benefit. If they are getting bad outcomes from a partner, better chance is to find a new partner (can only go up) Payment for labour --> give to those who helped them get the food. Prefer partners with whom they have tolerant relationships. Not sure about some other species - tbd.
