Do they specialize in this field: where is the source published, peer reviewed: ulrich"s web. What to avoid: self-published works and sites, works with extremely outdated bibliographies, works by someone who is not a specialist in the field of study, works or websites with ideas that are clearly not mainstream academia. Descriptive vs. analytical writing: go beyond summary and description, do not tell the reader facts, use analysis. Assignment 1: at least one primary source and 2 secondary sources which can be books or academic journal articles. Assignment 2: annotated bibliography: list of research sources, restate main arguments of a source, identify thesis, research questions. Citation: give credit to all of your sources for any information that is not your own direct observation, use chicago style.
