In this book, worldview will be used to refer to a system of beliefs that are interconnected like a jigsaw puzzle. From 300bc to 1600ac was the worldview of the time. These all turned out to be wrong but at the time they made a lot of sense. All these beliefs are related to one another and fit together nicely into a single picture. These beliefs were modified and added to over the years. For instance the aristotelian beliefs were at some point mixed with religious beliefs. Early in the 1600s, new evidence arose (due to invention of telescope) that the earth was revolving around the sun.
