Chapter 4 robert and grossman scenes from the life of a police officer. Unfortunately for the officer it is surprising how often and how rapidly diffusing parties are prepared to set aside their respective differences in order to jointly turn on the person sent to help them. Part of the enjoyment of the work lies in not knowing with any certainty what the next radio call will bring with it. The role is about at least presenting a credible show of (cid:272)o(cid:374)fide(cid:374)(cid:272)e to those (cid:449)ith (cid:449)ho(cid:373) (cid:455)ou"(cid:396)e deali(cid:374)g (cid:449)ith. The learning curve of most officers is usually fairly steep especially in metropolitan areas in a fairly short space of time and review of knowledge and hands-on experience is gained. Unfortunately it does not take much for an officer to make an arrest at the start of the shift and not make it back out for the remainder of the day shift.
