Amsterdam has little to no government; with the power being held within around 200 families. Green spaces, trees planted along canals, in public squares as an expression of beauty, prosperity and comfort. Amsterdam"s personal building company: a carpenter for interior wooden construction, a bricklayer who designs the buildings and bridges and a stonemason who focuses on all the stone elements in bridges, buildings, etc, After 1630, architecture was focused on classical principals. Jacob van campen designed the new town hall 1648. Population tripled durng the 17th century, with people moving in from belgium, and east (germany). This caused the city region to triple as well with 4 expansions. Residential area for expensive housing was planned to be placed in a ring of canals. The old city hosued the political and economic centers such as the stock exchange, town hall, church. New expanded city is used for housing and residential areas, separated by class and income groups.
