Wanted to crate world where people don"t use violence, but use thinking. Need to realize that your enemy" probably wants a lot of the same things as you do (want to live: so start process by looking for common ground with enemy. Peace not merely the pursuit of the absence of violence because peace is never achieved until justice is achieved. Justice is not achieved until everyone"s interests are addressed. So need constant striving to address issues of justice. Two row wampum belt: represents democracy, symbolized style of interaction of aboriginal peoples, first meeting with dutch in 1613, we (aboriginal people) have a canoe, dutch have a boat. Dutch boat has many religions, colours of people, ways of life. May be a life that the dutch call hard but we like it. Canoe contains our people, government, way of life: will connect the 2 vessels w/ covenant chain of peace.
