Le deuxieme sexe was a book that was a work of great creativity & courage. The social failure of women has limited their achievement in many fields & given rise to pervasive social evils that have imperative effect on the sexual relations between men & women. Existentialism emphasizes direct experience , feeling awareness, choice, commitment, & honesty. It authentically becomes true to ones owns values & insights. The 2nd sex theme is women"s peripheral existence denies them the chance of transcendence. Beauvoir analyzes the female condition of otherness alterity. Men perceive themselves as self & women as other, woman do the same (which is the problem). The terms masculine & feminine are used symmetrically only as a matter of form. The man represents both the positive & the neutral (this is seen a man" is used to represents human beings in general. ) The fact of being a man is no peculiarity.
