Is technology the great driving force of historical and social change: tech. viewed as saviour/frankenstein, tech. able to transform society when united with powerful social need. If some people control technology, then exactly who are they: people control tech. as much as tech. transforms people, military, big corporations now decide direction of most technological research and its application. How can we overcome the dangers of environmental degradation: market and tech. solutions not enough, a lot of self-sacrifice and cooperation required.
