Sociologists use scientific methods to test their ideas. Sociology can help to grip with your century. Emile durkheim showed at the end of 19th century that social forces strongly influences suicide rates. His experiment showed that psychological disorder do not cause suicide infact they are inversely related to each other. He expected that the groups with high degree of social solidarity will have low suicide rates. Jews are less likely to commit suicide then christians even though they have higher rate of psychological disorders because of tight community.
