Invented a non-experimental approach called cultural psychology that was a precursor to social psychology. Cannot be the basis of scientific psychology because it"s open to personal bias. Inner perception: a method of introspection performed under controlled conditions. Used by wundt to show our consciousness is rhythmically disposed: apperception: the process whereby we organize and make sense of our experience. E. g. , the rhythmic way we experience the beats of the metronome. Creative synthesis: the organization of our experience into a unified who, rather than a sum of individual impressions, through apperception. Stages of the flow of experience: apprehension: process by which individual impressions enter one"s consciousness. Span of apprehension: how many impressions we could be aware of at one time. You experience increased tension until the next beat occurs and feel relief once it does. Slow beats make you feel depressed, while if it were sped up, you"d get excited.
