Examination foundations: evidence-based practice is the integration of clinical expertise with the best research evidence and patient values, the integration of these three components has the highest likelihood for accuracy. Examination procedures: patients" cooperation in the examination process is extremely important, and one of the neuropsychologist"s main tasks is to enlist such cooperation christensen. Patient"s questions: the patient"s questions may not match those of the referral source or the examiner; nevertheless, they should be incorporated into the examination planning as much as possible. Sudden onset conditions: within the rst few weeks or months following a sudden onset event, a brief examination may be necessary. After the postacute stage: when the patient"s sensorium has cleared and stamina has been regained usually within the third to sixth month after the event an initial comprehensive neuropsychological examination can be given. Huntington"s disease, examinations at one- or two-year intervals can be useful. Observations: observation is the foundation of all psychological assessment.
