Young boy, keisuke seemed normal, than one day randomly locks himself into a kitchen for at least 3 years. Suffers from something called hikikomori (social withdrawal) Social withdrawal spend at least 6 months in an asocial state, onset before late. 20"s, no participation in education or employment, no intimate relation with anyone outside of immediate family. Common in japanese boys in high school usually a result of bullying. Japanese culture has clear cut expectations, inability to meet them leads to great pressure fitting in; more common in eldest son because of pressure to carry on family name. Condition became so common, it has its own unique intervention; workers called. Rentaru oneesan" or rental sisters, come to the patient"s house and carry a surrogate sibling relationship. Hikikomori can be cultural specific, as the situation wouldn"t be present in other cultures, or even the causes for the disorder. Hikikomori doesn"t fit in the dsm-iv which is american shows cultural differences.
