Prompts an antecedent stimulus/event that controls the response. Verbal behavior of another person results in the correct response in presence of the sd: gestural prompt. Any physical movement or gesture of another person that leads to the correct behavior in the presence of the sd: modeling prompt. Any demonstration of the correct behavior by another person that makes it more likely that the correct behavior will occur at the right time: physical prompt. Ex: might involve a change in the sd/s that makes sd more salient and s less salient so that the person is more likely to focus on sd. Ex: other stimuli might be used in conjunction with sd/s to make sd more salient: within-stimulus prompt changing sd, changing dimension, changing position, extrastimulus prompt adding another stimulus or cue to sd. Fading transfers stimulus control from the prompts to the sd.
