Chapter 21 direct behavioral assesment: what to record and how. Characteristics of behavior to be recorded: topography of behavior, the specific movements involved in making the response, picture prompts are sometimes useful for helping observers to identify variations in the topography of a response. Measuring frequency would be hard as its ambiguous (to measure frequency of temper tantrum, which factor would you measure: screaming, hitting, etc. : duration of behavior is measured using timers, stopwatches, or clocks. Correct responses are reinforced and incorrect responses are followed by an error-correction procedure: any kind of test in which a person answers questions, is a test of the stimulus control of behavior. Such tests assess whether the correct answers are under the control of the questions: measuring stimulus control done using abla test.
